Renzo Massobrio

Dr. Renzo Massobrio is a Postdoc Researcher at the Smart PT Lab, funded by a Margarita Salas grant by Universidad de Cádiz (Spanish Ministry of Science - NextGenerationEU). Under the supervision of Dr. Oded Cats, his current research focuses on applying network analysis for the comparative assessment of public transport networks in terms of accessibility, equity, and recoverability in the event of failures.

Renzo obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Universidad de Cádiz (Spain) in 2021 and holds an M.Sc. in Computer Science (2018) and a degree in Engineering in Computer Science (2015), both from Universidad de la República (Uruguay). He has worked as a teaching and research assistant at the Faculty of Engineering, Universidad de la República, since 2014 and is also a member at the National System of Researchers (SNI, Uruguay) since 2019. His main research interests are computational intelligence, metaheuristics, and data analysis applied to solving urban mobility and public transport problems.

Research interests:

  • Public and sustainable transportation
  • Optimization in public transport networks
  • Accessibility analysis in public transport
  • Smartcard data analysis
  • Evolutionary algorithms and other metaheuristics
  • Machine learning applied to optimization
